What is EMDR, and how is it used in therapy?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a research-backed therapy originally developed for trauma, but it’s also effective for anxiety, phobias, and grief. Through guided eye movements or bilateral stimulation, EMDR helps the brain process stuck or overwhelming memories so they can be stored in a healthier way.

What is Brainspotting, and how is it different from EMDR?

Brainspotting is a brain-body-based technique that identifies specific “spots” in your visual field that correlate with stored trauma, emotion, or tension. While similar in purpose to EMDR, Brainspotting is often slower-paced and more intuitive, allowing for deep emotional release without necessarily discussing the full memory in detail.

What is Animal-Assisted Therapy like in your practice?

My certified therapy dog (gentle, friendly, and trained for clinical work) may be present in sessions to help clients feel more grounded and at ease. This is especially helpful for teens, trauma survivors, or those who feel anxious in traditional therapy settings. Interaction is always optional and based on comfort.

What is Eco Therapy, and where does it take place?

Eco Therapy sessions use nature as part of the healing process. These might involve sitting or walking in a quiet outdoor space, incorporating mindfulness or grounding practices, and observing how the environment can support emotional balance. It’s a refreshing alternative to the therapy room and can help people feel more connected, relaxed, and open.

Is yoga-based therapy physical or meditative? Do I need experience?

Yoga-informed therapy is gentle, trauma-sensitive, and tailored to your needs. You don’t need to be flexible or have yoga experience — this isn’t a fitness class. We may incorporate breathwork, mindful movement, or stillness to help with anxiety, emotional regulation, and reconnection with your body
